Uniting the nation's startups, entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, and stakeholders, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is set to host the Startup India Innovation Week 2024 from January 10th to January 18th, 2024. This week-long event is dedicated to celebrate the Indian Startup Ecosystem and culminates on National Startup Day, observed on January 16, 2024.

Startups Unlocking Infinite Potential

To kick off the Innovation Week on January 11, Secretary of DPIIT, Rajesh Kumar Singh, will deliver the inaugural address during the Startup Seminar titled 'Startups Unlocking Infinite Potential.' This event will be held at the Tenth Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The summit aims to provide a global platform for business networking, knowledge sharing, and inclusive socio-economic development.

National Startup Day: Result Declaration and Felicitation Ceremony

On January 16 as part of the National Startup Day celebrations, DPIIT is organizing the Result Declaration Ceremony for the National Startup Awards 2023 and the 4th edition of the States’ Startup Ranking Framework. These initiatives are flagship programs under the Startup India umbrella. Simultaneously, physical events across the nation, organized by incubators, will celebrate the innovative strides made by Indian entrepreneurs. These events will include dedicated workshops, mentorship sessions, stakeholder round tables, and panel discussions.

Interactive Sessions and Mentorship Programs

The Innovation Week will feature eight virtual Ask Me Anything (AMA) live sessions from January 10-17. These sessions will involve key stakeholders in the startup ecosystem, including incubators, accelerators, investors, mentors, unicorns, corporates, startups, academia, and government representatives. Additionally, five focused mentorship sessions, titled 'How to Start Up,' will be conducted to build the capacity of aspiring entrepreneurs and student entrepreneurs. Topics covered will include understanding business structures, the process of incorporating an entity, and building a comprehensive business plan.

Celebrating 8 Years of Startup India

Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 16, 2016, the Startup India initiative aims to create a robust ecosystem for innovation, nurture startups, and encourage investments. In recognition of the startups' significant contributions to nation-building and socio-economic development, January 16 was declared National Startup Day in 2022.

As the initiative completes 8 years, the Indian startup ecosystem has flourished, with over 1,17,000 recognized startups compared to around 400 in 2016. This initiative is a key driver in realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, the Prime Minister's call to transform India into a developed nation by 2047, the 100th year of independence.

National Startup Awards and States' Startup Ranking

The National Startup Awards, an integral part of the initiative, seeks to recognize and reward outstanding startups and ecosystem enablers that are building innovative products, scalable enterprises, and have the potential for significant employment generation and wealth creation. The States' Startup Ranking, a periodic exercise developed by DPIIT, evaluates the efforts of States and UTs in fostering a conducive ecosystem for startup growth. It aims to facilitate learning and the exchange of best practices, highlight policy interventions, and foster competitiveness among states.

Collaboration with Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) Initiative

In a collaborative effort with the Department of Youth Affairs, DPIIT is promoting the Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) initiative, launched by the Prime Minister on October 31, 2023. MY Bharat serves as a technology-driven facilitator for youth development and youth-led development across the entire spectrum of the Government. As part of the Innovation Week, various outreach activities will be undertaken to specifically promote entrepreneurship among the youth under MY Bharat.

As the nation gears up for the Startup India Innovation Week 2024, anticipation builds for a week filled with insights, celebrations, and recognition of the dynamic and flourishing Indian startup ecosystem.
