AI in Healthcare: Promise Meets Caution

The intersection of AI and medicine took center stage as Shibu Vijayan, Chief Medical Officer, Global Health, Qure.ai, discussed AI in Healthcare. While AI holds immense potential to revolutionize diagnostics and patient outcomes, Vijayan stressed the need for caution around regulatory compliance, ethics, and the challenges of implementation in real-world settings.

Fighting Obesity: Health, Economy, and the Gut

The spotlight then turned to one of the most pressing yet under-discussed health challenges—Obesity as a Metabolic Disorder. Framing obesity as a medical and economic issue that deserves policy-level intervention, the expert panel explored the role of gut health, personalized nutrition, and medical solutions like GLP-1 and prebiotics. Moderated by Pariksha Rao, Director, The Good Bug, the session brought together a diverse group of experts from AIIMS, Max Healthcare, and the startup ecosystem.

Tech for Governance: Emerging Tools for Smarter Procurement

Beyond healthcare, the conversation expanded to how emerging technologies are reshaping governance. In the panel on Emerging Technologies in Industrial Services, public sector leaders from NTPC, ONGC, and Mahanadi Coalfields explored how AI, AR/VR, and blockchain are being used to streamline procurement and ensure safer, more efficient operations.

States and Startups: Building Procurement Trust

The push to bring startups into the government ecosystem gained momentum in a session on Enhancing State Procurement Through Startups. Panelists from GeM, the GNCTD, and startup leaders like Rajat Jain of Sunfox Technologies discussed building trust, simplifying onboarding, and incentivizing innovation at the state level to make government procurement more startup-friendly.

Unlocking Central Government Markets for Startups

Central ministries and CPSEs are also making space for startup innovation, as detailed in Unlocking Opportunities – Startups & Central Government Buyers. Officials from Government e Marketplace (GeM) shared how initiatives like Startup Runway are revolutionizing procurement by simplifying the process and onboarding over 10,000 startups into central contracts.

Category-Based Procurement: A Gamechanger for Startup Growth

In the concluding session, Business Opportunities of Growth for Startups Through Categories on GeM, discussions focused on how category-based procurement is enhancing alignment between startups and government buyer needs. Led by GeM’s top category officers, the panel showcased how structured procurement models are enabling startups to scale sustainably within the public sector landscape.

A Grand Convergence at Startup Mahakumbh

Hosted as part of Startup Mahakumbh, a pioneering initiative led by FICCI, ASSOCHAM, NASSCOM, TiE, IVCA, and the Bootstrap Foundation—with strong support from DPIIT, MeitY, SIDBI, GeM, and others—the Health and Bio-Tech Pavilion stood out as a launchpad for India’s next-gen healthcare revolution.
