Empowered by Vikasa Parva: Mysore’s Creative Students Embark on a Global Mission

Students from government schools in Mysore are set to present their innovative solutions to real-world community problems at two prestigious events: the TiE Global Summit (TGS) 2024 in Bangalore and the School Innovation Marathon 2024, India’s largest school innovation challenge. These young innovators have been nurtured through Vikasa Parva, a groundbreaking six-week workshop on innovation, design thinking, product development, and entrepreneurship, spearheaded by Excel Public School and funded by Excel Empathy Foundation.

Fostering Creativity Among Young Minds

The workshop, held from October 23 to November 29, brought together 186 students and 36 teachers from 36 government schools across Mysore district. Participants were introduced to cutting-edge concepts in innovation and entrepreneurship, leveraging the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework to address pressing local issues.

Access to Excel Public School’s state-of-the-art Innovation Lab and ATL Lab enabled students to develop low-cost prototypes and viable business models under expert mentorship. A panel of judges selected the top 10 projects, focusing on areas such as healthcare, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, environmental conservation, and social innovation. These standout projects will be featured in the “Firestarters Gang: TYECON-TGS2024” session at the TiE Global Summit on December 10.

National-Level Participation

All 36 projects developed during Vikasa Parva will also compete in the School Innovation Marathon 2024, organized by the Ministry of Education, Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), and the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC). This national platform encourages students to think innovatively, identify community problems, and propose practical, scalable solutions.
