India Exposes Pakistan’s Civilian Flight Shield and Crushes 36-Target Assault

New Update

In a significant escalation of hostilities along the western front, the Indian Armed Forces successfully neutralized a large-scale drone and missile offensive launched by Pakistan on the night of May 8–9. The coordinated Pakistani attack, which targeted Indian military installations across 36 locations from Leh to Sir Creek, marked one of the most extensive aerial infiltration attempts in recent times. Indian forces, however, responded with speed and precision, thwarting the offensive using a combination of kinetic strikes and electronic warfare.

According to Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, Pakistan deployed between 300 and 400 drones in an audacious attempt to infiltrate Indian airspace, gather intelligence, and target key military assets. Forensic analysis of debris from the downed drones revealed the use of Turkish-origin Asisguard Songar UAVs, indicating Islamabad’s increasing reliance on foreign combat drone technology. One drone specifically attempted to strike the Bhatinda military station, but Indian defenses neutralized the threat before it could cause damage.

India Activates 'Operation Sindoor' Counterstrike

The attempted incursion came against the backdrop of Operation Sindoor, an Indian Armed Forces mission aimed at dismantling terror launchpads and infrastructure inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Intelligence sources believe that Pakistan's drone attack was a retaliatory move against the success of this ongoing Indian operation. However, India’s swift military response demonstrated its preparedness and resolve.

The Indian Air Force retaliated by launching armed drones at four Pakistani air defense sites, destroying at least one radar installation. Despite the escalation, Indian forces exercised notable restraint, ensuring that international civil aviation remained unaffected throughout the counter-offensive.

Pakistan’s Civilian Shield Strategy Exposed

In what India has termed a reckless and desperate move, Pakistan reportedly used civilian air traffic as a shield during its drone offensive. Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, presenting flight radar data at an MEA briefing, revealed that while India shut down its airspace for civilian aircraft to prevent collateral damage, Pakistan deliberately kept its civil airspace open. As a result, commercial airliners flew dangerously close to conflict zones, risking a major international aviation incident.

"This was not just irresponsible; it was a flagrant violation of international aviation norms," Wing Commander Singh said. Aviation analysts have warned that such tactics could endanger neutral air traffic and violate international laws protecting civilian infrastructure during military conflicts.

Ceasefire Violations and Artillery Exchanges

As the drone offensive unfolded, the Pakistani Army also violated the ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control (LoC), engaging in heavy-caliber artillery fire in sectors of Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army responded with precision strikes, reportedly causing significant damage to Pakistani military outposts.

Senior defense officials confirmed that places of worship and civilian infrastructure were also targeted by Pakistani UAVs, marking a dangerous shift in Islamabad’s strategy. “Targeting civilian and religious sites is not just a violation of wartime ethics—it is a war crime,” one official said on condition of anonymity.

India Calls Out Pakistan’s Denial Diplomacy

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri condemned Pakistan’s actions as “provocative, escalatory, and deeply irresponsible.” Addressing the press, Misri stated that the attacks were aimed at “Indian cities, civilian infrastructure, and religious institutions,” not just military targets.

“Pakistan’s official denial of its involvement is not just unconvincing—it is a deliberate attempt to mislead the global community,” Misri said. He also urged international bodies to take note of Pakistan’s endangerment of civil aviationand its use of terror-linked technology in the cross-border assault.

India Remains on High Alert

As investigations continue into the wreckage of the downed UAVs, Indian defense forces remain on high alert. The Ministry of External Affairs reaffirmed India’s commitment to proportional and responsible responses, but emphasized that any future aggression would be met with stronger retaliation.

“This was not just a military episode; it was a test of our national resilience and defense preparedness,” a senior government official said. “India has passed this test with flying colors.”

The events of May 8–9 have once again exposed Pakistan’s military adventurism and strategic recklessness, particularly its dangerous tactic of using civilians as human shields in the sky. As the region watches closely, the message from New Delhi is clear: India will defend its sovereignty, firmly and decisively.
