In our special Women’s Day video interview series, "Shepreneur Shakti," we spotlight remarkable female entrepreneurs who are redefining industries and creating opportunities for women. This series highlights inspiring women-led startups that exemplify empowerment, innovation, and perseverance.
Today, we feature Nitu Singh, the founder of Scentiments Global, a luxury fragrance brand that is not just breaking barriers but also fostering a workspace where women uplift each other. Her journey is a testament to the power of women supporting women, building an inclusive, all-female workforce, and redefining success in the perfume industry.
A Brand Built by Women, Led by Women
What makes Scentiments Global unique is that it is entirely women-led and women-run. From manufacturing to packaging and even management, every aspect of the business is handled by women. Nitu Singh, a certified perfumer, deliberately created a workspace that empowers women by offering them stability and long-term career prospects.
"Women tend to stay and build with you for the long haul. I have employees who have been with me for six or seven years, and their loyalty and dedication have been the foundation of my company," she shares.
Overcoming Challenges and Thriving
Nitu’s entrepreneurial journey hasn’t been without hurdles. Establishing a luxury fragrance brand meant dealing with industry regulations, certifications, and funding constraints. However, her vision remained strong. She recalls the toughest phase during the COVID-19 pandemic when luxury products took a backseat, and she had to mortgage personal assets to sustain salaries for her employees.
"The responsibility of ensuring my team’s livelihood kept me going. Post-pandemic, we came back stronger, doubling our efforts, and now we cater to several premium brands through B2B production," she adds.
Breaking into a Competitive Market as Startup
Competing against well-established global brands is a challenge for any startup, more so for a niche luxury brand. However, through perseverance and networking, Scentiments Global managed to carve a space, even landing collaborations with the Indian Armed Forces.
Nitu recalls how a friend introduced her to the Army Wives Welfare Association, which opened doors for business orders from military establishments in Mathura, Alwar, and Dehradun. Her commitment to social impact led her to train war widows in perfume and candle-making, free of cost.
"Helping them gain skills and independence was the least I could do for the families of those who served our nation," she says.
Creating a Safe and Inclusive Work Environment
Beyond employment, Nitu Singh ensures that her workplace is truly inclusive for women. Understanding the struggles of working mothers, she introduced an informal childcare space within the company.
"Many women hesitate to work due to childcare responsibilities. I provided them a safe space where they could bring their children. It wasn’t a formal crèche, but it made a huge difference in their ability to work without worry," she explains.
Through Scentiments Global, Nitu Singh is proving that businesses can thrive while staying committed to social change. By creating an all-women workforce, offering skill development, and fostering an inclusive environment, she is paving the way for more female entrepreneurs.
As we celebrate Women’s Day, stories like Nitu’s remind us that empowerment goes beyond words—it is about creating real opportunities and lasting change. Stay tuned as we continue to highlight women who are shaping the future of entrepreneurship.
