WaterScience Raises ₹1.4 Cr from Peter Thiel-Backed Velocity in India

WaterScience, a Bengaluru-based company, has secured ₹14 crores in funding from Velocity, a growth capital platform supported by Peter Thiel’s Valar Ventures, bringing its total funding to ₹7 crores since 2020.

The funds will be used to drive growth, enhance marketing efforts, and expand into new product categories, aiming to establish WaterScience as a comprehensive water solutions provider

WaterScience, founded in 2014, specializes in non-drinking water filtration solutions, offering products like shower and tap filters, appliance filters, kitchen filters, water softeners, and whole-house filtration systems

The company currently serves over 2 million homes in India and aims to reach 3 million households by the fiscal year 2025-26

Pavithra Rao, Co-Founder of WaterScience, emphasized the company's mission to make water safer and healthier for Indian homes, with plans to scale faster and innovate with Velocity's support

Velocity, founded by IIT Bombay alumni, provides non-dilutive capital and AI-driven growth tools, and has disbursed over ₹1,100 crores to more than 4,000 digital-first brands

Atul Khichariya, Co-Founder and COO of Velocity, praised WaterScience for its innovation and growth trajectory in addressing the non-drinking water filtration market in India

The non-drinking water filtration segment in India, which covers bathing, washing, and cleaning, is expected to grow at a 15% CAGR through 2028, driven by hard water issues affecting 70% of households

WaterScience reports a 70% year-on-year growth and strong distribution across major online platforms like Amazon and Flipkart, as well as over 1,000 offline retailers

This funding round aims to support WaterScience's expansion, increase visibility, and drive product innovation in the under-addressed non-drinking water filtration market
