As fireworks of Diwali light up the skies across India, another kind of celebration quietly unfolds — one that illuminates the hopes and futures of thousands of young Indians. On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation through a virtual broadcast at the latest Rozgar Mela, marking a moment of pride and progress in India’s pursuit of a “Viksit Bharat” — a developed and self-reliant nation.
Over 51,000 youth received appointment letters at the event, adding to the 11 lakh jobs created so far under the Rozgar Mela initiative. But PM Modi’s message went beyond employment — it was about empowerment, purpose, and participation in nation-building.
“These are not just government jobs,” the Prime Minister said with conviction. “They are opportunities to serve the nation, to be part of India’s growth story. When youth succeed, the nation succeeds.”
In many ways, the Rozgar Mela has come to symbolize a new kind of Diwali — one that celebrates the light of opportunity. Since its inception, the initiative has become one of India’s most ambitious employment drives, bridging the gap between aspiration and access.
This latest event, held across multiple states, saw new recruits join diverse departments — from education and health to defence, railways, and technology. Each appointment letter represents not just a paycheck, but a promise — of stability, dignity, and contribution.
For PM Modi, this was more than an administrative milestone. It was a moment to reaffirm the government’s commitment to the youth who form the backbone of India’s growth story.
“India’s young population is our biggest strength,” he said. “Their hard work, confidence, and innovation are transforming challenges into opportunities every single day.”
Rozgar Mela: From Employment to Empowerment
In his address, the Prime Minister underscored how job creation today is only one part of a much larger vision — building an ecosystem that nurtures skills, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Several ongoing initiatives are working in tandem to make that vision real:
PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana – A new flagship program aimed at providing employment to 3.5 crore youth, creating avenues in both public and private sectors.
Skill India Mission – The government’s long-running skill development platform continues to upskill and reskill millions, ensuring India’s workforce remains aligned with the changing demands of global industries.
National Career Service (NCS) Portal – Now boasting data on over 7 crore vacancies, the NCS has become a digital bridge connecting job seekers directly with employers.
Adding another powerful layer to this framework, PM Modi launched the Pratibha Setu Portal — a first-of-its-kind digital platform for UPSC aspirants who reached the final list but narrowly missed selection. “Their hard work should not go in vain,” he emphasized. “This portal will ensure their talent finds the right platform — in public or private sectors.”
This holistic approach — where education, skill, and employment work as interconnected pillars — is fast redefining how India approaches youth empowerment.
Economic Momentum: When Reform Meets Opportunity
Touching on the broader economic landscape, PM Modi linked India’s rising employment curve with robust consumer sentiment and pro-growth reforms.
The GST Bachat Utsav, he noted, has not only made products more affordable but has also boosted demand, production, and job creation. “When goods become cheaper, demand rises. When demand rises, production expands — and that creates jobs,” he explained.
He described the GST reform not merely as a fiscal move but as a “growth enabler,” particularly for MSMEs and small traders. From manufacturing to logistics, packaging to retail, the cascading effects of increased consumer activity are creating thousands of new roles — particularly in Tier II and Tier III cities.
“This festive season is not just a celebration of consumption — it’s a celebration of confidence,” he remarked, calling the GST initiative an “employment festival” in its own right.
Global Partnerships, Local Impact
Another notable highlight of the Prime Minister’s address was India’s expanding global footprint — especially in sectors that hold the promise of future-ready jobs.
He cited the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the United Kingdom as a key milestone that will open new markets for Indian talent in AI, fintech, and clean energy. Similar partnerships with Brazil, Singapore, Korea, and Canada are expected to unlock investments in startups, MSMEs, and exports, paving the way for global opportunities for India’s young professionals.
As India continues to strengthen its role in global value chains, these partnerships are turning into career gateways for youth — connecting local talent with global ambitions.
The New Karmayogis of India
The Prime Minister also encouraged new recruits to embrace their roles as karmayogis — selfless contributors in service to the nation. “Remember the mantra of Nagarik Devo Bhava — the citizen is divine,” he told them, urging them to carry empathy, discipline, and honesty into their new roles.
He spotlighted the iGOT Karmayogi Bharat platform, where over 1.5 crore government employees are already enrolled in digital learning and capacity-building programs. The platform, he said, is cultivating a new culture of innovation and accountability within public service — something he hopes the newly appointed youth will carry forward.
The Road Ahead: Youth as the Architects of a Developed India
As India sets its sights on becoming a developed nation by 2047, PM Modi reiterated that it will be the country’s youth who will lead the charge.
“The dreams of India’s citizens will be realized through the efforts of its young karmayogis,” he said. “Their courage, vision, and discipline will define the next chapter of India’s growth story.”
With initiatives like the Rozgar Mela, Pratibha Setu, and Skill India shaping the nation’s workforce, India is not just creating jobs — it’s creating possibilities. Every appointment letter, every training session, every startup idea is a brick in the foundation of Viksit Bharat.
In a country where more than half the population is under 30, the stakes are high — but so is the spirit. And as PM Modi aptly put it, “When youth succeed, the nation succeeds.”
