IIM-A’s incubation platform to invest $ 100,000 in 50 new start-ups

IIM Ahmedabad’s incubation platform, CIIE.CO, plans to invest USD 100,000 each in up to 50 new startups over the next year. The investments will span sectors such as technology, digitization, sustainability and more.

IIM Ahmedabad’s incubation platform CIIE.CO will invest USD 100,000 each in as many as 50 new start-ups over a year. The investments would be across sectors and focus on technology, digitisation and sustainability.

“Over the next 12 months, we are committed to investing up to USD 100,000 each in 50 early-stage startups. We aim to continue to build our deep-tech portfolio across some of the exciting white-spaces, including digital therapeutics and diagnostic-pathology in the health-tech segment,” Vipul Patel, partner, seed investing at CIIE.CO says.

“We are also looking at investing in breakthrough-solutions enabling decarbonization, and enterprise-grade solutions powered by generative AI, amongst others,” he adds.

Startups incubated under CIIE.CO

CIIE.CO has advised more than 5,000 entrepreneurs, helped 1,200 start-ups and invested in 350 of them. In 2022, it invested in 70 pre-seed and seed stage start-ups. CIIE.CO’s portfolio raised more than USD 50 million in follow-on funding last year. The start-ups incubated under CIIE.CO include Agnikul, IdeaForge, Biosense and PerkinElmer.

“We are also excited about investing in sectors such as gaming and the creator economy that cater to millennials and younger generations as they seek unconventional work opportunities,” says Patel.

Some of the ventures to receive capital from IIM-A’s incubation centre in the past are – WeatherCasr, Unbox Robotics, Wonderland, CredoChain etc.

CIIE.CO backs entrepreneurs building disruptive solutions and are at their risky early stages. Through the continuum of incubation, acceleration, capital, insights – the startups are driven to a more impact creating stage. 

Set up at IIM Ahmedabad as a Centre of Excellence with support from the Government of India’s Department of Science and Technology and Government of Gujarat, CIIE.CO is the epicentre of The Innovation Continuum.

The startups are provided with all the required resources at early stages - Mentoring, Funding, Incubation, Technical and Marketing Support.
