The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with Citi Foundation, have unveiled the seventh edition of Youth Co:Lab National Innovation Challenge for 2024-2025. This year’s initiative takes a bold step forward by focusing on disability-inclusive innovation, urging young entrepreneurs to design solutions that enhance accessibility and improve the lives of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).

Your Guide to Joining the Youth Co:Lab National Innovation Challenge 2025

With AssisTech Foundation (ATF), India’s foremost accelerator for Assistive Technology (AT) innovation, joining as a key partner, the program emphasizes inclusivity in areas such as:

  1. Accessible Assistive Technology
  2. Inclusive Educational Tools and Skilling Platforms
  3. Accessible Care Models

Applications are now open to individuals aged 18–32 who are passionate about creating solutions for disability inclusion.

A Call for Action: Empowering Youth Innovators

At the virtual launch, Dr. Angela Lusigi, UNDP’s Resident Representative in India, underlined the initiative’s transformative mission.

"Young people are the changemakers of today. By prioritizing startups led by and for persons with disabilities, we are fostering development aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)," she said.

Prateek Madhav, CEO and Co-Founder of ATF, highlighted the power of technology.

"Imagine AI guiding individuals with visual impairments or AR/VR transforming how those with autism learn. This collaboration aims to revolutionize such possibilities for PwDs," he remarked.

Youth Co:Lab: A Proven Catalyst for Change

Launched in India in 2019, Youth Co:Lab has become a trusted platform for youth-led social entrepreneurship. Over six editions, it has reached 19,000 participants and nurtured 2,600 teams. For 2025, the program will support 30–35 early-stage startups, offering mentorship and seed funding to scale high-potential solutions.

The virtual ceremony, attended by senior representatives from AIM, UNDP, ATF, Citi Foundation, and over 100 stakeholders, featured partnership announcements and a launch video streamed globally.
