To encourage startups and individuals working on innovations in the field of Ayurveda and alternative healing, a Ayurveda Grand Startup Challenge is being held by the government, the prize money for which is as high as Rs 5 lakhs along with the incubation opportunity.

The Ayush market is currently estimated to be around $10 bn and it is projected to see a 50 per cent increase over the course of the next five years.

In alignment with India's G20 Presidency theme, 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' (the world is one family), the "Ayurveda for One Health” theme has been introduced. This overarching theme resonates with the tagline "Ayurveda for everyone, every day," highlighting the intrinsic connection between human health and the broader ecosystem.

The Ministry of Ayush, in collaboration with the All-India Institute of Ayurveda, Startup India, and Invest India, has launched the Ayurveda Grand Startup Challenge. This initiative is strategically designed to propel the Ayurveda for One Health theme, embracing a comprehensive approach termed "Jan Sandesh, Jan Bhagidhari, and Jan Andolan for Jan Arogya."

Four Pillars of Ayurveda Grand Startup Challenge

The challenge focuses on these key components, aligning closely with the vision of the Government of India:

  • Promoting Startups: Identifying and endorsing startups with the potential to solve challenges in the Ayush sector.
  • Technology and Innovation Advocacy: Fostering the adoption of technology and innovation to drive sustainable growth in the Ayush sector.

Eligibility and Stages of Startups

The Ayurveda Startup Grand Challenge is open to DPIIT recognized startups in relevant sectors and individuals forming a group (3-5 members). Notably, individuals must register a legal entity before receiving any cash prize or grant.

  • Integration of Technology in Ayurveda Education: Proposing solutions for incorporating technology in Ayurveda education, treatments, and surgery to enhance the skills, training, and competency of Ayurveda professionals.
