Startup Mahakumbh: It's Our Time Under Sun, Says Piyush Goyal

In a bid to catalyze India's burgeoning startup ecosystem, leading industry bodies including ASSOCHAM, NASSCOM, Bootstrap Incubation & Advisory Foundation, TiE, and Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association (IVCA), in collaboration with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, are set to host the groundbreaking 'Startup Mahakumbh'. Scheduled from March 18 to 20, 2024, at the iconic Bharat Mandapam and Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, the event is poised to be a milestone in the annals of Indian entrepreneurship.

The curtain raiser for the much-anticipated event took place today at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, graced by the esteemed presence of Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution & Textiles, and Shri Sanjiv, Joint Secretary, DPIIT. Joining them were luminaries from the startup ecosystem including Prashanth Prakash, Executive Council Member - IVCA, Sanjeev Bikhchandani, Co-founder and Executive Vice Chairman, Info Edge, Archana Jahagirdar, Founding and Managing Partner, Rukam Capital, Nivruti Rai, MD & CEO, Invest India, Sanjay Nayar, Senior Vice President, ASSOCHAM & Founder and Chairman, Sorin Investments, among others.

Addressing the gathering, Union Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized the pivotal role of startups in shaping the future of India. With an optimistic outlook, he encouraged entrepreneurs to seize the opportunities presented by India's transition towards becoming a 35 trillion dollar economy by 2047. Goyal underscored India's emergence as a global leader, attributing this success to confidence, good governance, and relentless innovation.

"I believe startups will be the backbone of new India. This is our time under the sun, and the sun is rising," he declared, urging startups not to miss the proverbial bus.

Expressing confidence in the youth, Goyal envisioned them as architects of India's destiny in what he termed as 'Amrit kaal'. He emphasized the pivotal role of the young demographic in propelling India's journey from a 3.5 trillion dollar economy to a 35 trillion dollar economy by the centenary of India's independence in 2047.

The 'Startup Mahakumbh' is poised to be one of the largest gatherings of startups, unicorns, soonicorns, investors, industry leaders, and ecosystem stakeholders. This unprecedented event aims to showcase India's prowess in entrepreneurship, technology, and innovation while fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange. With a diverse array of activities including mentoring sessions, masterclasses, keynote addresses, and Unicorn roundtables, the event seeks to bolster the startup ecosystem in India and facilitate meaningful partnerships.
