At the Global Fintech Fest 2025, Indian AI startup Gnani.ai showcased its latest innovation: a self-cloned Digital Human powered by its proprietary HumanOS platform. The avatar is created from a single approved video source and a brief voice sample, and is designed to engage users through real-time, expressive interactions.

The demonstration at the event highlighted the growing trend of AI-driven interfaces that go beyond traditional chatbots or voice assistants, aiming to make digital interactions more lifelike and intuitive. By combining both visual and auditory cues, the platform aims to provide enterprises with tools for more natural customer engagement, particularly in sectors like banking and financial services, where complex interactions are common.

Making Digital Conversations More Human

Gnani.ai emphasizes that the next step in automated interactions is integrating sight with sound. While chatbots and voice agents have improved accessibility, they often lack the nuances of human communication, such as facial expressions, lip movement, and eye contact. HumanOS seeks to address these gaps by rendering avatars that can replicate subtle micro-expressions and gestures in real time.

According to Ganesh Gopalan, Co-Founder and CEO of Gnani.ai, the platform is designed to capture not just voice, but also the “look, feel, and expressiveness” of human interactions. The avatars can adapt to individual user preferences, past interactions, and the context of a conversation, which is expected to improve the quality of engagement and user satisfaction.

The platform supports multilingual interactions and includes features such as barge-in detection, overlap handling, and quick turn-taking when integrated with Gnani.ai’s Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system. This allows conversations to flow naturally even in live, high-volume scenarios.

A key focus of HumanOS is its optimization for Indian languages. With over 20 widely spoken languages and hundreds of dialects, India presents unique challenges for AI-driven communication. Gnani.ai says its platform is designed to handle multilingual code-switching, making it possible for users to interact in multiple languages seamlessly. This is particularly important for financial inclusion, as many first-time banking users may be more comfortable interacting in regional languages rather than English.

Priority use cases highlighted by the company include vKYC verification, onboarding walkthroughs, document guidance, concierge support, executive communications, and broader customer engagement. At the launch, the company demonstrated these capabilities through live demos and case vignettes, showing how the technology could be applied in real-world banking and financial services scenarios.

Technological Backbone

The HumanOS platform combines voice cloning, emotion controls, and fine-grained expression management to create avatars that respond in real time. It also supports live and prerecorded interactions, low-latency streaming, and synchronization of speech with facial movements. The company also announced updated ASR and Text-to-Speech models built on NVIDIA Magpie, enabling smoother live turn-taking and more natural prosody in conversations.

Gnani.ai’s solutions are already deployed across BFSI, automotive, retail, and telecom sectors, offering voice-to-voice AI interactions that understand spoken queries and respond in real time. The company was recognized under the IndiaAI Mission for developing the country’s first Voice Large Language Model, demonstrating its role in shaping India’s AI landscape.

Funding and Expansion

In 2024, Gnani.ai secured $4 million in funding to support product development and scale its operations globally. The company is currently focusing on expanding enterprise adoption of its HumanOS platform and exploring broader applications across multiple industries.

The introduction of AI-generated digital humans marks a shift in how companies can interact with users, blending technology and human-like interaction to improve accessibility, efficiency, and engagement. While it remains to be seen how quickly such avatars will be adopted across industries, the demonstration at Global Fintech Fest 2025 underscores the potential for AI to transform customer experiences in India.
