₹1,677 Crore Boost: Cabinet Clears Major Expansion of Srinagar International Airport’s Civil Enclave

In a significant push toward strengthening connectivity and accelerating regional development, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a major expansion of the Civil Enclave at Srinagar International Airport. Now, with air traffic steadily growing and tourism demand increasing, the need for modern, expanded passenger infrastructure has become urgent. The newly approved Civil Enclave project directly addresses this demand.

Spread across 73.18 acres, the new development will include a state-of-the-art terminal building spanning 71,500 square meters. Designed to handle 2,900 passengers during peak hours, the facility will support an annual capacity of 10 million passengers — a significant upgrade aimed at future-proofing the airport.

• An expanded apron with 15 aircraft parking bays, including one wide-body aircraft bay.

• Continued operation of the existing 3,658-meter runway by the Indian Air Force.
