Andhra Pradesh to Launch AI University with NVIDIA, Train 10,000 Students

In a major leap towards strengthening India's AI ecosystem, the Andhra Pradesh government has teamed up with global tech giant NVIDIA to set up an Artificial Intelligence (AI) university. The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on June 6, marking a significant milestone for both the state and the AI sector.

This ambitious initiative follows a meeting in Mumbai last October between Nara Lokesh, the state’s IT, Electronics, and Communication Minister, and NVIDIA’s CEO, Jenson Huang. The AI university will be equipped with cutting-edge technology, tools, and software provided by NVIDIA, helping students gain hands-on experience with the latest in AI advancements.

Building the Future of AI Talent

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu highlighted that the collaboration will not only create a state-of-the-art AI university but will also provide opportunities for 10,000 engineering students in Andhra Pradesh to undergo specialized AI training over the next two years. This initiative aims to enhance the skill sets of students, preparing them for the rapidly evolving AI industry.

Moreover, the partnership extends its support to the startup ecosystem in the region. Andhra Pradesh's 500 AI startups will gain access to NVIDIA's prestigious Inception Programme. This program offers essential tools, training, and resources that will help startups scale their operations and accelerate their innovation in AI development.

Empowering Engineering Colleges with AI Expertise

In addition to the university and startup initiatives, NVIDIA will collaborate with engineering colleges across the state, providing them with curriculum guidance and technical training resources. This move aims to ensure that AI education is integrated into the core structure of academic institutions in Andhra Pradesh, enabling them to develop the next generation of AI experts.

Speaking about the collaboration, Nara Lokesh shared his vision for Andhra Pradesh’s role in India’s AI journey. “This partnership with NVIDIA is a decisive step in our goal to position Andhra Pradesh as a national leader in AI. By training 10,000 students with cutting-edge AI skills and supporting startups, we are laying the foundation for a future economy driven by innovation, entrepreneurship, and research,” said Lokesh.

NVIDIA’s Commitment to AI Ecosystem Growth

Vishal Dhupar, NVIDIA’s Managing Director for South Asia, expressed pride in the partnership, emphasizing the broader impact of the initiative. “We are proud to work with the Andhra Pradesh government to create a robust AI ecosystem. This collaboration reflects our commitment to democratizing access to AI education, accelerating research, and enabling startups to innovate at scale,” Dhupar stated.
