India Strikes Back: Operation Sindoor – Know What, When and Where It Happened

In a pre-dawn operation on Wednesday, India carried out precision military strikes on terror infrastructure located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK). The coordinated mission, named Operation Sindoor, involved a tri-services effort from the Indian Air Force, Navy, and Army.

Operation Sindoor

The strikes came in response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 civilians, including a serving Indian Navy officer and a Nepali national, lost their lives. The attack was traced back to operatives linked with Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

India deployed a range of advanced weapon systems in the operation:

  • SCALP (Storm Shadow): A long-range cruise missile with a strike range of over 250 km, launched from air platforms.

  • HAMMER: A precision-guided smart bomb capable of hitting targets 50–70 km away, used to destroy fortified terror camps.

  • Loitering Munitions: Also known as kamikaze drones, these were used for surveillance, target detection, and final strikes.

Where Were the Strikes Conducted?

A total of nine targets were hit — four in mainland Pakistan and five in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The Indian Ministry of Defence confirmed that no Pakistani military bases were attacked. The focus remained solely on verified terror facilities.

Operation Sindoor Hit These Locations:

  • Markaz Subhan Allah, Bahawalpur (JeM) – Jaish-e-Mohammed’s ideological and operational base.

  • Markaz Taiba, Muridke (LeT) – Lashkar-e-Taiba’s main 200-acre compound for training and logistics.

  • Markaz Abbas, Kotli (JeM) – Suicide bomber training and weapons centre.

  • Syedna Bilal and Shawai Nalla Camps, Muzaffarabad (JeM & LeT) – Used for training and infiltration.

  • Markaz Ahle Hadith, Barnala (LeT) – Regional logistics and support hub.

  • Sarjal, Tehra Kalan (JeM) – Pre-infiltration training camp.

  • Mehmoona Joya, Sialkot (HM) – A Hizbul Mujahideen training facility.

The operation is considered India’s largest cross-border precision strike since Balakot (2019) and marks a significant escalation in its counter-terrorism strategy.
